Solent sailing race calculator & planner
Automatically create leg-by-leg Course Over Ground (COG), Distance and True Wind Angle (TWA) calculations for Solent sailing race planning.
Plan a Solent sailing race course
Paste a spoken or WhatsApp-style race call, or enter the marks and roundings directly. The planner recognises known Solent marks, preserves the announced order and keeps uncertain points editable instead of guessing an authoritative mark.
- Build structured courses with marks, gates, start lines and finish lines.
- Calculate course over ground (COG), straight-line distances and true wind angle (TWA) for each leg.
- Use independent start and finish positions and place editable points on the course chart.
- Share a leg-by-leg race briefing or export the planned route as GPX.
- Export the course to GPX format to automatically load all mark locations into Navionics or other navigation software; verify imported positions against official sources before sailing.
What is true wind angle?
True wind angle, or TWA, compares the true wind direction with each leg’s geographic course. It is a planning calculation, not a substitute for official charts, sailing instructions, navigation equipment or prudent seamanship.
Planning only: verify all mark positions, course instructions, COG, distance and exported route information against official sources before sailing.
